Camping in France is a great way to experience the country's natural beauty, history, and culture. Siblu Holidays campsites are located in some of the most beautiful parts of France, and they offer a variety of activities and excursions that will allow you to explore the local area.
Siblu has bags of activities and amenities to keep you and your family entertained during your stay. Here are some of the things you can do when camping at Siblu Villages:
France's North Coast is easy to reach by ferry or the Eurotunnel and offers a huge range of beautiful beaches, vibrant cities and some incredible attractions. Our campsites in the north of France are hugely popular with guests from the UK, with Brittany and Normandy being particularly popular. Brittany is a beautiful region in northwestern France with a long coastline, stunning scenery, and a rich history. It feels very similar to Cornwall, with beautiful rocky coves mixed with stretches of golden beach, but of course here in France you also have the authentic French cuisine, from the traditional Breton crepe (which goes beautifully with a local cider!) to a whole range of seafood, fresh from the local ports of Concarneau and Lorient. Normandy is a favourite due to its easy access from ports such as Caen and Cherbourg which lead directly to this region, but it's also not a long drive from Calais. You can reach Normandy from Calais in around three hours and best of all, there aren't many toll roads in this area! Our campsites in Normandy include Domaine de Litteau and our beautiful campsites in Brittany are Domaine de Kerlann and the smaller campsite Le Conguel.
Head a little further south for a camping holiday on the west coast of France and you can make the most of increased sunshine hours, long stretches of golden beach, perfect for surfing and bodyboarding, and a lovely authentic French culture mixed with fun tourist spots. Our campsites in the Vendee are located in the lively town of St Jean de Monts, and this area is perfect for long beach days, family cycle rides and fun nights out in St Jean de Monts and other holiday resort towns such as Les Sables d'Olonne and St Gilles Croix de Vie.
Just south of La Rochelle you'll discover another range of Siblu campsites, namely camping Les Charmettes, camping La Pignade, camping Bonne Anse Plage and camping Mer et Soleil on the island of D'Oleron. These campsites in the Charente Maritime are located in a region famed for Cognac, seafood, sunflowers and again, long stretches of golden beach. The area is fabulous for cycling, it's easy to leave the car parked up here and spend your camping trip relaxing at the campsite and the beach. If you did want to explore however, the towns of St Palais sur Mer, La Rochelle, Saintes and Bordeaux are all worth a visit.
Camping in the south of France is great way for families to experience the best of this gorgeous region without breaking the bank! Southern France, from Montpellier down to Perpignan and Marseille across to Nice and Cannes on the French Riviera, is an area renowned for glorious beaches, glitzy harbours with super yachts, and lots sunshine hours. You can explore the Cote d'Azur from our Siblu campsite Le Montourey, located just outside Frejus, near Nice, perfect for a fly-drive holiday. Alternatively, head to the Languedoc coastline, enjoying the sights of Montpellier and the wild camargue horses from our campsite Le Lac des Reves, or head further south to our beautiful campsite La Carabasse for fun beachside holidays in France. You'll also find many campsites down close to the Pyrenees, on the border with Spain, including Mar Estang. Of course, the Languedoc is also famous for its wine, and there are lots of wine tours at local vineyards that you can enjoy in this region, to ensure that you get to taste some of the best French wines.
If you want to avoid the crowds on the Cote d'Azur or the beaches of the Languedoc in southern France, then head to the south west coast of France, just south of Bordeaux for your camping trip. This area is somewhat of an undiscovered gem, with peaceful campsites located on the banks of lakes, surrounded by cooling pine trees. Siblu offer many campsites in this area, which are popular with campers who have their own tent or motor home and those that love watersports and surfing. Campers looking for a pitch can check out campsites that offer touring here. Places to visit include Mimizan, Biarritz, Cap Ferret, Biscarosse and Seignosse. Our popular campsites in this area include camping La Reserve, which has its own private lakeside beach. Imagine mooring up own motor boat at this lakefront campsite! Popular campsites in this area also include camping Les Oyats and camping Le Pipiou.
We like to think we offer campsites in all the best regions, so of course, that's not just about the coast. Our Siblu campsite in the Loire is perfect for a relaxing countryside holiday in the heart of nature. The Loire Valley is a region in central France that's known for its beautiful countryside and royal castles and it's a great place to go camping if you're interested in history, hiking, or wine! This can be a good spot to visit Paris and Disneyland Paris, either by car or by train from the campsite, or perhaps enjoy an overnight stop at the French capital on your way to your Siblu site. Another great spot to get away from it all and avoid the crowds is the Rhone Alps. The French Alps are a mountain range that runs through France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia and it's a great place to go camping if you're looking for an outdoor adventure. Our campsite in the Rhone Alps, on the edge of the mountain range, is in a great spot for outdoor activity such as river rafting, mountain biking through local woodland and forest and road cycling. The city of Lyon is close to our Siblu campsite in the Rhone Alps, and is worth a visit to see the Roman amphitheatre as well as the shops and great restaurants.
Q) When is the best time to go camping in France?
A) The best time to go camping in France depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for warm weather and sunny skies, then the best time to go is during the summer (June-August). However, if you're looking for a more affordable camping experience, then the shoulder seasons (spring and early September) are a great option.
Q) Where are the best places to go camping in France?
A) France are good at camping, with lots of well-equipped campsites across the country, particularly in the coastal regions. It's the kind of holiday that all the French take, they call it an 'outdoor hotel' or 'Hotellerie en plein aire', so there is lots of investment across the country in this type of holiday. When it comes to choosing the best spot, it depends on how far you want to drive and how hot you enjoy the holiday. The good news is, Siblu has done the hard work for you! We are located in 30 of the best spots in France – simply pick the area that you want to visit!
Q) What kind of camping gear do I need?
A) You’ll be pleased to know that you won’t need any specialist camping gear if you are staying in a Siblu holiday home. Our comfy and stylish homes are kitted out with everything you need for a self-catered holiday, included full-equiped kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom and living room. Even our Safari tents have everything you need. If you want to book a touring pitch on a Siblu campsite, then you'll need to bring all your own camping gear, such as tent, beds and cooking equipment.

A) It depends on the time of season and whether you are booking a pitch or renting a holiday home, such as a mobile home or glamping tent. Here at Siblu we pride ourselves in offering excellent prices across all our campsites in France, with a range of holiday homes to suit all budgets.
Q)Which are your most popular campsites?
A) We do have some campsites that are particular favourites with our guests from the UK. These include the easy to reach sites in Brittany and Normandy, as well as our campsites in the Vendee and in the Charente Maritime. For holidays in early or late summer / early autumn, guests like to visit La Carabasse in southern France or Le Montourey, close to Nice.
Q) Can I go wild camping in France?
A) You can wild camp anywhere in France as long as you get the landowner's or tenant's permission and follow some basic rules. The main things to remember are that wild camping isn't allowed on the coast, in protected natural areas, or near historic monuments. Also, local authorities and managers of natural sites like national or regional parks might have their own specific rules to follow. Camping with a touring van is a lot more strict.
Camping is a great way to get away from it all and spend some quality time with your partner. It's a chance to relax and enjoy the outdoors, and to create memories that will last a lifetime. Siblu offers private pitches with outdoor furniture and BBQs (where local restrictions allow), so you can enjoy quality time together in peace. On park, there are lots of activities such as tennis, boules, table tennis as well as swimming and keep fit classes. In the evenings you can head to the bar and the restaurant on site, or discover the delicacies of the local town. French seaside resorts are renowned for their seafood – especially oysters!
